Inventory continued to grow, and Jim continued to petition Reid to build a warehouse. Reid didn’t want to tie up capital in owning a warehouse, so they settled on Jim building the warehouse and Industrial Container would rent the warehouse space from him. In 1981, Jim borrowed money at 18% interest and built 12,000 square feet of warehouse at 1345 E State Street, in Eagle, Idaho.
“We moved all of our inventory from Merrill’s into this building and it all fit in one little corner. I thought to myself as I stood by our little pile of inventory looking through the mist at the empty far end of the building, ‘What have I done? We will never fill this building!’”
