Why 16pt C2S?
We use 16pt C2S (coated 2 sides) paper for our business cards. This is a thick, durable cardstock commonly used for high-quality printing applications like business cards. This cardstock is fairly thick, about 350-400 GSM (GSM stands for Grams per Square Meter, which measures the weight of paper per square meter) giving it a sturdy, premium feel. “C2S” means the paper is coated on both sides, usually with a satin finish, which enhances color vibrancy and prevents ink from being absorbed too much. Resists wear and tear better than thinner stocks, making it ideal for items handled frequently.
Landscape vs portrait vs square
The traditional business card format is 3.5 x 2 inches, with landscape layout, being the most common. Landscape layout (horizontal) means that the business card is oriented wider than tall. This is classic, professional, and makes it easier to read text, photos, and horizontal logos. There is more horizontal space for long names or website URLs.
You can also choose to use a portrait or vertical layout of the traditional size 2 x 3.5 inches. This layout is taller than wide, giving it a modern and unique look, and can help your card to stand out. This can be less familiar and harder to store in some business card cases.
We also offer the newer square business card. The square is 2.5 x 2.5 inches and will definitely draw some attention! The square shape stands out from standard cards and is great for more creative industries. It’s compact, yet noticeable. This format, however, won’t fit in most wallets or standard card holders and might not be taken as seriously in more conservative industries.
